Abstract

Oikawa Denim, a sewing factory in Miyagi Prefecture, is now recognized worldwide for its superior craftsmanship and the skill. However, the road to this success wasn't always smooth, especially with challenges like the death of its founder and economic recessions. Then came the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011. Even as the tsunami washed away their warehouse and homes, the community, led by the then president Oikawa Hideko, faced the adversity with smiles. This book traces the history and future of the factory alongside Oikawa Hideko's journey.
