Abstract

Yone Sasaki, a third-grader at Otsuchi Elementary School in Iwate Prefecture, lost his family and everyday life in the Great East Japan Earthquake. About a year and a half after the disaster, through a school project to design a new classroom, Yone began to reflect on his role and wanted to fill not only his school but also his town with smiles. This book chronicles the journey of children looking up from a tragic past and moving towards dreams of the future.
