—A colorful story of love between two women—

“We’re not friends.”
It’s the summer of Ai’s th year. She’s at a resort with her boyfriend when they run into a childhood friend of her boyfriend’s and his girlfriend. Saika, an aspiring actress, is gifted with exceptional beauty—and the haughtiness that can go with it. Despite her unfriendly demeanor toward Ai, the four open up to each other while spending the time at the resort together.
After returning to Tokyo from their vacation, Ai
grows close to Saika very quickly. Before long, Ai and her boyfriend start talking about marriage, when suddenly one day Saika boldly kisses Ai, confessing that she loved her “from the start.”
“She tempts me with her skin, her breath, her lips, her tongue…, and I’m completely taken in by her.”

Author’s Information

Born in Kyoto in 1984. She made her literary debut in 2001,winning the 38th Bungei Prize for “Install,” while still a high school student. At the age of 19, she won the 130th Akutagawa Prize in 2004 for “I Want to Kick You in the Back.” In 2012, Ms. Wataya won the 6th Kenzaburo Oe Prize for “Kawaisou da ne?” Her other works include “Yume wo Ataeru” and “Tremble All You Want.”
