Abstract

A deep guide to Kyoto, focusing on Sakyo Ward, by an author who is a Tokyoite through and through but occasionally lives in Kyoto. She bikes to coffee shops and public bathhouses near Kyoto University that Kyoto natives have recommended, and enjoys the local architecture during walks. This book presents a look at Kyoto through which both its attractiveness as a modern city and the depth of its history emerges in multiple layers.
