Born in Tokyo. Graduated from Tama Art University. Directs commercials, animation, movies, etc. Art director of E-TV's "Shakin!" Movies include ``Shokudo Snail.'' His picture books include ``Neko Mataen,'' ``Azuki no Anchan, Zunchan, Ginchan'' (Fukuinkan Shoten), and ``Anafusagi no Jigmonta'' (2021 Book Impressions/Assigned Book). /Born in Aichi Prefecture. "Mt. Head" was nominated for the Animated Short Film category at the 75th Academy Awards and won six Grand Prix awards, including Annecy and Zagrep. Other works include ``Ikumano no Kita'' and ``Polar Bear Suggoku Hima''. His picture books include ``Oyaoya, Oyasai'' (Fukuinkan Shoten) and ``Parade'' (Kodansha). Received the Art Encouragement Award and the Medal with Purple Ribbon. Member of the American Academy of Arts and Professor at Tokyo University of the Arts.
