Abstract

This is the first guidebook focusing on migratory birds in Japan, covering the latest knowledge about migration ecology, behavior, migration routes and practical tips that help enable readers to watch migratory birds in Japan. This book reviews the latest knowledge of migratory ecology in birds and introduces major migration routes around Japan, spatial-temporal location and timing suitable for observing migratory birds in Japan, and many basic tips helping detect migratory birds in the field. The authors also provide species-specific observation guides of 22 popular migratory species including Steller’s Sea Eagle, Brown-eared Bulbul, Siberian Blue Robin, etc. This is the best book for all birdwatchers, from those interested in birds visiting their garden, to keen birdwatchers birding all over Japan.
