Abstract

The two twin brothers grew up in a strict family environment with a violent father and an indifferent mother. But once a year, on their birthday, they are able to use their special abilities. They then overcome their unfortunate circumstances with their strong bond and mysterious powers.

Born in Chiba Prefecture in 1971. Made his debut in 2000 with "Audubon's Prayer," which won the 5th Shincho Mystery Club Award. In 2004, he won the 25th Yoshikawa Eiji Literary Newcomer Award for "Ahiru to Kamo no Coin Locker" and the 57th Mystery Writers of Japan Award for Short Story for "Shinigami no Seigi." In 2008, he won the 5th Booksellers' Award and the 21st Yamamoto Shugoro Prize for "Golden Slumber." In 2020, he won the 33rd Shibata Renzaburo Prize for "Gyaku Socrates." His other works include "Desert," "AX," "White Rabbit," "Seesaw Monster," "King of the Whale Head," and "Pepper's Ghost."
