Abstract

"My wife is still hanging around in this world even though she's dead--

Semba, Osaka, at the end of the Taisho era (1912-1926). Soichiro, a painter, was unable to accept the death of his wife, Shizuko.
Unfulfilled, he asks a priestess to perform a seance, but this does not go well, and he is warned that ""your wife is not an ordinary spirit.
The miko's fears come true, and Shizuko appears to Soichiro, but her voice and presence are distorted.
Soichiro, who is searching for the spirit of Shizuko, encounters a faceless being named ""Erimaki.
Erimaki says that he lives by feeding on spirits that are unaware of their death,
He tries to kill Shizuko's spirit, but he is blocked by many ""somethings"".
As Soichiro and Erimaki pursue the mystery of the mysterious phenomenon, they are confronted with an abominable truth.

There is a wife in the house who is supposed to be dead.
Is it an unfulfilled wish or a curse that keeps her in this world?

Author’s Information

To Kitazawa born in Osaka Prefecture. She completed her Master's degree in English Literature and English Language Studies at the Graduate School of Newcastle University in the UK.
In 2023, she made her debut with "Wongoku," which won the triple award of the 43rd Yokomizo Seishi Mystery & Horror Awards: Grand Prize, Reader's Award, and Kakuyomu Award.
