Abstract
This is a collection of modern folktales compiled by sea anglers who have interviewed them and collected strange stories about the sea that they have actually encountered or experienced. Although the inland area of the country is largely mountainous, it is also a sea country surrounded by the sea, where "something" whose true identity is unknown lurks. This book contains 51 strange stories about the sea that the author, who has been involved in sea fishing for many years, has collected. The striking cover illustration is a copperplate print by the unorthodox artist, Arata Tago, from his Fish series.
