Abstract

This is the 6th volume in the series of "BOKUNO SHIZEN KANNSATSU-KI (My nature observation note by Hisashi Okuyama).
During autumn, fallen acorns are found in parks and many other places.
From the beginning with introductions to the major species of acorns found in Japan, then providing a wide range of explanations with plenty of illustration and pictures, including observations acorns of oak and sawtooth oak until ripen, how to grow them, how to craft, how to eat deliciously.

Author’s Information

Hisashi Okuyama is an artist, a photographer and a naturalist. Born in 1937 in Akita prefecture, Japan. He has been familiar with nature since he was a child, and has made it his life's theme to convey the joy of nature.
After studying under the manga artist Baba Noboru, he taught himself photography and published books, art books and photo books. He also teaches children how to enjoy nature through observation meetings.
His books include "KUSA NO NE NO TANKEN (exploring for roots of plants)," "TSUKUE NO UE NO SHOKUBUTSUEN (A botanical garden on my table)," "ROZETTO NO TANKEN (exploring for rosettes)," "KI NO MI NO TANNKEN (exploring for nuts and berries)," and "TAMPOPO NO TANNKEN (Exploring for Dandelion)" (Shonen Shashin Shimbunsha), "Plants Around the School," "Identify!
