" This is the long-awaited latest collection of science fiction works from Enjo Tou who continues to explore the principles of stories.

This is a collection of fourt stories including "Palimpsest, or Eight Stories Written Over Each Other," a story about eight ■s written in a notebook left behind by his great-grandfather; "Moonshine," a light-hearted mathematical science fiction story based on the "Moonshine Conjecture"; "Ergodic," which depicts the bizarre history of the Ergodic Cult, whose central doctrine is reincarnation; and "Laura's Original," which first appeared in the magazine Shimi no Techo. Includes commentary on the works by the author.

Author’s Information

Enjo Tou
Born in Hokkaido in 1972. Graduated from the doctoral course at the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, University of Tokyo. Debuted in 2007 with "Self-Reference ENGINE," a finalist for the 7th Komatsu Sakyo Prize. In 2010, he won the 32nd Noma Literary Newcomer Prize for "Uyushitan," and in 2012, the 146th Akutagawa Prize for "Dokeshi no Cho," and in 2013, he won the 33rd Japan Science Fiction Grand Prize Special Award and the 44th Seiun Award for "Shisha no Teikoku," a collaboration he completed by continuing Project Itoh's posthumous manuscript. In 2017, he won the 43rd Kawabata Yasunari Literature Prize for his short story "Mojika," and in 2019, he won the 39th Japan Science Fiction Grand Prize for a collection of short stories with the same work as the title story. He served as the series composer and scriptwriter for the anime "Godzilla SP (Singular Point)," which aired in 2021, and published a novel of the same name in 2022.
