Born in Tokyo in 1955. Graduated from the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Tokyo. After working in the Market Research Division of Toshiba Corporation, he withdrew from the doctoral program in psychology at Tokyo Metropolitan University Graduate School. After working as a lecturer at Kawamura Junior College, a visiting researcher at the University of California, and an assistant professor at Osaka University, he assumed his current position.
