【Ryoichi Obitsu】
Born in Saitama Prefecture in February 1936. Doctor of Medicine. Honorary Director of Obitsu Sankei Hospital. After graduating from the University of Tokyo Faculty of Medicine in 1961, he joined the Third Surgery Department of the University Hospital. After serving as the Chief of Surgery at Komagome Municipal Hospital, he founded Obitsu Sankei Hospital in his hometown of Kawagoe, Saitama Prefecture in 1982 and became its director. He specializes in cancer treatment and practices "holistic medicine" that combines various treatment methods such as Western medicine, traditional Chinese medicine, and alternative therapies to affect not only the body but also the life and mind. In 2004, he established the Obitsu Sankei Juku Clinic in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, focusing on alternative therapies. At 88 years old, he is still actively practicing holistic medicine, qigong, tai chi, lecturing, and writing. He is Honorary Chairman of the Japan Holistic Medicine Association. His many books include "Health Q&A" (co-authored with Itsuki Hiroyuki, Heibonsha), "How Wonderful It Is to Be in Your 80s" (Wanibooks), and "The Front Lines of Cancer Treatment at Obitsu Sankei Hospital" (Kose Publishing).
