Abstract

We all have fond memories of the summer holidays when we were children. The excitement lay in the extraordinary experiences. In Kouta’s case, his cousins Yuko and Toshinobu visited his family with their parents. It had been a while since they all got together like this. They went for a dip in the pool and then enjoyed some ice-cold somen noodles, a classic for summer lunch. Naturally, watermelon followed for dessert. After a short nap to rest, dusk was approaching and it was time for the festival at the local shrine. The children got into their traditional summer kimono, yukata. There was an unusual commotion with the lanterns hanging in the dark and the festival music playing. Kouta almost lost sight of the others getting too absorbed in the goldfish scooping! And the night closed with the grandeur of fireworks. Enjoy the splendor of a traditional Japanese summer holiday!
