Born in Aomori Prefecture in 1966. In the mid-1980s, he joined ORG Co., Ltd. and was involved in translating the new Japanese version of Dungeons & Dragons. Around the same time, he was one of the founding members of CB's Project Ltd., and has been involved in writing and compiling numerous game strategy guides and game books. He is currently a director at CMON Japan, and the representative director of Japon Brand, an organization promoting Japanese non-electric games overseas. He is a lecturer at Hirosaki Literature School, and an editor, translator, writer, and author. His specialties include Norse mythology, Celtic mythology, demonology, monstrosity, ancient Japanese history, science fiction, fantasy, cosmology, biology, and film criticism. He is a member of the Japan Society for Iceland Studies, the Hirosaki PEN Club, and the NPO harappa. His major works include "The Encyclopedia of Mythical Beasts I: Monsters", "Inhabitants of the Fantasy World", and "Inhabitants of the Fantasy World 2" (co-authored, Shinkigensha), "Illustrated Guide to the Strongest Mythical Beasts" and "Illustrated Guide to the Strongest Dragons" (supervised by Gakken), "Encyclopedia of Fantasy Dragons" (supervised by KANZEN), "Dictionary of Fantasy and Otherworld Terms" (supervised by Nihon Bungeisha), as well as the novels "Memories Beneath the Ice" (Hokuto Shinsha) and "Mailed Maiden" (Atelier Third), among many others.
