Abstract

Unveiling the darkness and light of life. A masterpiece encapsulating the essence of Sakuragi’s world.

Chiharu Tsukamoto, a woman separated from her free-spirited biological mother Sakiko and her daughter Yayako, born from her second marriage. From the Showa era to the Heisei era, Chiharu, unbound by blood ties, roams the northern land. Eventually, she receives a prize for modern poetry and dreams of becoming a writer. This gem of nine stories brings to light the peculiar life and sexuality of Chiharu, as well as the darkness and light carried by those around her, through Sakuragi's sharpened, masterful prose. The quintessential work of Naoki Prize-winning author Shino Sakuragi!
