Born in Fukuoka Prefecture, raised in Miyagi Prefecture. Graduated from the University of the Arts London Graduate School. Selected for the Bologna Children's Book Fair in 2000. Currently active mainly in solo exhibitions. Has worked on the picture books "Witch Mel and Shining Soup" (Shogakukan), "The Mysterious Umbrella Shop" and "The Mysterious Night of the Christmas Market" (both published by Kodansha), "The Specimen Room of Whispers in the Forest" (A&F), "Luna's Egg Hunt" (Froebel-kan), and many other books and children's books. Lives in France.
