Author’s Information

She was born in 1962 in Tokyo, Japan. She graduated from Kwansei Gakuin University with a degree in Japanese literature and from the Department of Art History at Waseda University. After working at Itochu Corporation, the preparatory office for the establishment of the Mori Art Museum, and being dispatched to the Museum of Modern Art in New York, she became a freelance curator in 2002. In 2005, she made her debut by winning the Japan Love Story Grand Prize with Kafū o machiwabite (カフーを待ちわびて, Waiting for Good News). In 2012, she won the Yamamoto Shūgorō Prize with Rakuen no kanvasu (Canvas of Paradise). In 2017, she received the 36th Nitta Jiro Literature Prize for Rīchi sensei (リーチ先生, Master Leach). In 2024, she won the 52nd Izumi Kyōka Prize for Literature for MUNAKATA: Beyond Van Gogh.
