Abstract

Masaaki Iemoto was a former professional referee and international referee for the J. League. He was even ridiculed as “the worst referee” by many supporters at one time because of his frequent misjudgments and unstable game control, but he bounced back from that adversity and setback and was praised as the most stable referee when he retired in 2021. This collection contains 424 messages from the tweets that Mr. Iemoto tweeted daily on Twitter (@referee_iemoto) from January 2021 to June 2022. The collection is full of positive, kind, and warm life advice from Mr. Iemoto, who has risen from the depths of frustration. This book is not only for J-League supporters, but also for anyone who is troubled in life or in business, and it is full of hints to “change the future.

Masaaki Iemoto was born in Hiroshima Prefecture in 1973. Former J-League professional referee and former international referee, he has been the chief referee of the J-League since 2002, but will retire in 2021. At one time, he was considered the worst referee in the J. League due to misjudgments and inconsistent refereeing, but just before his retirement, he was recognized for his stable refereeing. He is now involved in activities to improve the appeal of the J-League. He also shares his views on judging and offers advice to those who are worried about refereeing and life in general on “note” and responds on “PARK”.
