Abstract

This picture book for babies is a valuable posthumous work of Mizumaru Anzai who authored an estimate of more than 1 million copies of picture books. When published in 2005, the book became popular for the rhythmically repeated words "apple, apple, apple..." and simple line illustrations. Readers highly evaluated the book as their children asked them to read it many times and got excited listening to their parents read it to them.

Author’s Information

Born in Tokyo in 1942. Graduated from the Department of Fine Arts, College of Art, Nihon University. After working as an AD at Dentsu, ADAC (a design studio in New York), and Heibonsha, he became a freelance illustrator. He passed away in 2014.
