Abstract

This is Shinjiro Ogawa's first collection of landscapes with trains. Ogawa's style emphasizes perspective and depicts scenes in front of stations, on street corners, and along the tracks where trains run, making him popular on social media. His unique deformations emphasize the elevations of the terrain and the curves of the tracks, and the rickety buildings and trains give off a nostalgic, warm feeling. Many of the landscapes incorporate a sense of the seasons that are typical of Japan, and the book is structured so that you can feel the changing of the seasons as you turn the pages.
