Abstract
This is a collection of works by manga artist Atsushi Kamijo, who is celebrating his 40th year as an artist, focusing on "lines." The contrast between the detailed depiction using lines that eliminate waste and the bold omissions, and the skillful spatial composition create a unique sense of tension in the screen, and combined with the stylish portrayal of characters, have captivated many people. "Lines" remain the key to Kamijo's expression, but in recent years he has moved from the traditional manga drawing method of inking a rough sketch to a style of finishing with pencil lines and then retouching and adjusting them digitally, opening up new horizons. This collection of works mainly features recent pencil drawings that he has shown at exhibitions, and you can enjoy the lines by comparing the finished works with the rough sketches that are being shown for the first time. There is also an interview where he talks extensively about the roots of his own lines and his expression, which is well worth reading.
