Author’s Information
Kenji Miyazawa / Born in Hanamaki, Iwate Prefecture in 1896. Graduated from the Department of Agricultural Chemistry at Morioka Agricultural and Forestry College. He began writing tanka in his teens, and left behind many poems and fairy tales. During his lifetime, he published a collection of poems called "Spring and Ashura" and a collection of fairy tales called "The Restaurant of Many Orders." He also founded the Rasu Jijin Association and devoted himself to improving the lives of farmers, but passed away in 1933 at the age of 37 due to acute pneumonia.
Akira Kusaka / Illustrator and graphic designer. Lives in Osaka Prefecture. He mainly works on graphic design and book illustrations. His illustrations include "Kenji Miyazawa's Fairy Tales: The Restaurant of Many Orders, Gauche the Cellist, etc.", "Kenji Miyazawa's Fairy Tales: The Cat's Office, Night on the Galactic Railroad, etc.", and "Kenji Miyazawa's Fairy Tales: Undeterred by the Rain, Matasaburo the Wind, etc." (author: Kenji Miyazawa, Sekai Bunka Publishing). He also works with pianist Yuka Taniguchi as part of the picture, sound and words unit "repair". He is in charge of pictures and trombone.
Yuji Ono/A professor at Joetsu University of Education. He studied modern Japanese literature at the Faculty of Letters at Kanazawa University and in the doctoral program at Tsukuba University. He has researched novels and fairy tales from the Taisho and Showa periods, including those by Yukio Mishima, Kenji Miyazawa and Mimei Ogawa. His books include "Douwaron Miyazawa Kenji - Purification and Cleansing" and "Familiar with Mimei Ogawa" (both published by Sokyu Shorin), and many others.
