Abstract

It is no exaggeration to say that music is always present in Watase Seizo's work. His representative work "Heart Cocktail" has many scenes where music is playing, and the selection of songs is also one of the attractions. Watase's work, which has also been involved in many music jackets, has been re-evaluated in the recent city pop boom, and his fans among the younger generation are increasing. This book is the latest collection of Watase's "music"-themed works, who will celebrate his 50th anniversary as an artist next year. In addition to works directly connected to music such as record/CD jackets, the book includes a selection of works inspired by some song, as well as illustrations depicting scenes where "music can be heard." In addition, several comic works related to music that have not yet been published in a book, including two from "Heart Cocktail," are included. In a conversation with composer Shima Ken, Watase's musical history will be revealed.
