Abstract
Akihiko Nagumo, a photographer active in the advertising photography field, has compiled his serial project "IDEA of Photography: Secrets of Photography Ideas" in the monthly magazine Commercial Photo into one book. The "IDEA" in the title refers to the original thoughts and ideas that shape the world you envision. The photos that are born from embodying this idea are enjoyable for both the photographer and the viewer. This book introduces the secrets of photography ideas for putting that "IDEA" into photography. The book is divided into three parts: the camera section, the subject section, and the lens section. The camera section is about taking photos that make the most of the characteristics of each type of camera, such as "SLR," "mirrorless," "large format," "iPhone," and "rangefinder." The subject section is about shooting with the concept of elements such as "natural form," "white," "black," "light," and "boundary." The lens section is about shooting that makes full use of the charm of the famous lenses of each company, "Leica," "Nikon," "Canon," "Sigma," and "Sony." 15 works such as these are published with explanations. The shooting techniques and lighting sets for each work are relatively simple, so anyone can try it. In addition, the column "Product Photography Effect Ideas" features works that use seven ideas to make the subject stand out, such as "projection," "transmitted light," "ripples," "color," "smoke," "Angel's ladder," and "powder." This book will help photographers, as well as all creators who work with photography, expand their visual design repertoire.
