Abstract

This is the first story manga by Naomi Kageyama, who is very popular for her Shiba Inu illustrations. In a small port town, Shiba Inu Shokudo, run by Gonkichi, a Shiba Inu master who is stubborn about taste but generous. Together with his innocent niece Anzu, he cooks food with all his heart. Gonkichi and Anzu, the liquor store owner Shotaro, the rice store owner Yoshimatsu, the company employee Yuri who is tired of work, the elementary school student Sota who hates school, and other people and dogs in the town. They unfold delicious and heartwarming episodes over the course of 12 months. Conflicts with family, frustrations with acquaintances, work fatigue, hatred of school, regrets about the past, worries about the future... No matter what happens, at Shiba Inu Shokudo, you will be greeted with the usual food, unchanging smiles, and a relaxing atmosphere. Illustrator. Lives in Shonan with her husband and two Shiba Inu dogs (Koma and Gaku). Other Shiba Inu dogs she has lived with include Gon (who passed away at age 16) and Tetsu (who passed away at age 13). She has written many books, including illustrated essays and four-panel comics, in which they also appear.
