Born in Kyoto Prefecture in 1981.
Made his literary debut in 2014 after winning the prestigious Edogawa Rampo Prize for The Fragrance of Lies in the Dark. His works have consistently earned high praise in major mystery rankings. In 2015, his short story Death Spreads Its Wings at Dawn was nominated for the Mystery Writers of Japan Award (Short Story category), and in 2016, his novel The Survivor was nominated in the Long-form/Story Collection category of the same award. In 2024, his novel Same Name, Same Fate gained wide attention by winning three major “Bibliobattle” reader-voted book awards.
