Author’s Information

[Takeshi Yoro]
Born in 1937 in Kamakura, Japan. Anatomist. After graduating from the University of Tokyo Faculty of Medicine and completing his doctoral studies, he served as a professor at the same university and later at Kitasato University from 1996 to 2003. Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo. He received the Suntory Prize for Social Sciences and Humanities for A Way of Looking at the Body (1989), and the Special Award of the Mainichi Publishing Culture Awards for The Wall of Fools (2003). His numerous publications include The Brain Alone, Dr. Yoro Goes to the Hospital, and Understanding Things.

[Joe Hisaishi]
Originally trained as a contemporary composer, Hisaishi became interested in minimal music after graduating from music college. In recent years, he has also gained recognition as a classical conductor, collaborating with orchestras both in Japan and abroad. His album A Symphonic Celebration, released by Deutsche Grammophon, topped two categories of the U.S. Billboard charts. In April 2024, he was appointed Composer-in-Association with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He is scheduled to become the Music Director of the Japan Century Symphony Orchestra in April 2025.
