Abstract

With just a glance, you'll learn the latest information about how the brain works and how to effectively develop it! This book covers everything from the basics of how the brain works to the latest research on higher brain functions and how to develop them! The first half of this book explains how the brain works. Learn about the mechanisms and functions of parts of the brain you may have heard of, such as the cerebrum, cerebellum, brainstem, frontal lobe, limbic system, basal ganglia, hippocampus, pineal gland, neurons, and synapses. It also explains the mechanisms of memory, emotion, and movement in simple terms. The second half explains how the brain works and how to utilize it based on brain networking. In particular, utilizing this network is essential for activities that utilize higher brain functions. Higher brain function involves the simultaneous activation of various parts of the brain. For example, throwing a baseball to the catcher requires the brain's motor, thinking, visual, and communication systems to work together. To understand and utilize these functions, it is important to understand "brain areas" and how to utilize them in accordance with the characteristics of each area. The concept of "brain areas" was proposed by Dr. Kato, the author of this book. In addition to the "motor system," "thinking system," "visual system," and "communication system" mentioned above, there are also the "memory system," "emotional system," "auditory system," and "comprehension system," for a total of eight brain areas. "Brain areas" organize and map the functions of these eight areas. Understanding these and utilizing their respective characteristics is crucial. In fact, strengthening brain networks is essential for adult brain development. As explained in the example of higher brain functions above, the brain works in collaboration, so there are ways to develop it with an awareness of the network. If this is achieved, even adults can develop their brains. In other words, it is possible to develop the abilities you want to improve through daily living. And this is possible at ages 5, 20, and 50! Even at age 100, the brain can still develop. This book not only helps you understand the mechanisms of familiar terms like the frontal lobe, limbic system, brainstem, and neurons, but also explains how to utilize these brain characteristics to develop them.

Author’s Information

Neurologist and Doctor of Medicine. Director of Kato Platinum Clinic. Representative of Brain School Co., Ltd. Visiting Professor at Showa University School of Medicine. Expert in neuroscience and MRI brain imaging diagnosis. Developed and popularized brain address training and the Ondoku method, which emphasizes brain-activating particles. At the age of 14, he decided to go to medical school to learn how to train his brain. In 1991, he discovered the non-invasive fNIRS brain activity measurement method. From 1995 to 2001, he conducted research on Alzheimer's disease and MRI brain imaging at the University of Minnesota. He discovered hippocampal gyral retardation, which is related to ADHD and developmental disorders.
He currently runs the "Kato Platinum Clinic" and uses his proprietary Kato-style MRI brain imaging diagnostic method to diagnose brain areas that identify the brain's individuality, developmental stage, and weaknesses and strengths, and prescribes brain treatments that do not rely solely on medication. He has written over 150 books, including "Amazing Brain Uses to Stay Smarter for Life" (Sunmark Publishing) and "Introduction to the Brain and Mind" (Asahi Shimbun Publications). "Brain Area" (trademark registration no. 5056139 / no. 5264859) is a registered trademark of Nou no Gakko.
