Abstract

In the mid-1960s, during the turbulence of student protests, I dropped out of university and became the manager of a newly debuted singer known as “K.”
As she rose to stardom and was hailed as the diva of her era, I kept my feelings for her hidden and instead began dating Kie, a young woman I met while she was working at an izakaya in Shinjuku.
But after a shocking incident, Kie suddenly disappeared. Years later, our paths crossed again in connection with the infamous Cyanide Cola Murders that shook Japan…

Author’s Information

Born in Tokyo in 1951. After graduating from Hitotsubashi University and completing graduate studies at the University of Tokyo, he pursued a career in comparative and American literature, serving as Professor at Hosei University before becoming Professor Emeritus. He made his literary debut with Creepy (winner of the 15th Japan Mystery Literature Award for New Writers). His works include the Creepy series, Harsh, Professor Akutagawa’s Murder Lectures, and many others.
