Abstract

This is the fifth volume in the reprint series of Seizo Watase's "Na," which depicts the beautiful scenery and colors of Japan set in an ancient capital. The original 12 volumes have been reorganized into six volumes, with unpublished drafts, storyboards, and other materials included at the end of each volume. The cover has been newly designed to make this a highly collectible hardcover edition. This work, which depicts the lives of the married couple Kohei and Na, has become popular for its seasonal almanac-like feel, featuring flowers and scenery of each season, and is a masterpiece series that has gained new fans.

Author’s Information

Watase Seizo: Born in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture in 1945, and raised in Kokura, Kitakyushu. After graduating from the Faculty of Law at Waseda University, he began creating manga while working as a salaryman. He began his professional career after winning the 13th Big Comic Comic Award in 1974, and became extremely popular with his serialization of "Heart Cocktail" in 1983. In addition to manga that depict the subtleties of adult love, he has also created numerous illustrations for music jackets, corporate advertisements, magazines, etc. He has opened permanent galleries in Shirokanedai, Mukonosho, and Mojiko Port. He is celebrating 50 years as an artist, and is continuing to hold publications and exhibitions to commemorate the occasion.
