Abstract

Bottle aquariums, which can be started using small glass containers, allow you to easily create your own aquarium and also serve as beautiful interior decorations, so they are currently attracting a lot of attention, especially among women. This book is an introductory guide to bottle aquariums, fully supervised by Shinya Sonohara, a charismatic aquarist with over 100,000 Instagram followers, an unprecedented number in the Japanese aquarium industry. The book is also full of fascinating photographs that Sonohara has been taking for over 20 years.

Author’s Information

Graduated from the Department of Oceanography, Faculty of Science, University of the Ryukyus.
In 2010, he founded "SONO Aqua Plant Farm" (specializing in mail order and wholesale) in Okinawa Prefecture, cultivating aquatic plants, biotope aquatic plants, and seaweed. He ships his famous fresh, vibrant, and diverse aquatic plant sets to enthusiasts and shops all over the country. He invented the "SONO Method," a new aquarium technique for building a "mini-ecosystem." He has created a new world of bottle aquariums, consisting of minimal equipment and a living community (aquatic plants and diverse organisms). He holds courses both within and outside the prefecture to convey the appeal of aquariums and nature. His motto is "Aquariums are a bridge to nature." His life's work is to increase the number of people who understand and love the natural environment through this hobby.
