"The Mysterious Candy Shop" (Kin no Hoshisha) won the Japan Picture Book Award Reader's Award. "What a Good Poo Today" (Suzuki Publishing) won the Kodansha Publishing Culture Award Picture Book Award. Five of his books, "Chu Chu" (Suzuki Publishing), "Shinigami-san" (Ehon no Mori), "Daddy Returns: Ultraman" and "Daddy is Ultra Seven" (Gakken), and "You Look Tasty" (Poplar Publishing), won the Kenbuchi Picture Book Village Grand Prize. "You Look Tasty" was released nationwide as a movie in 2010 (this data was published at the time the book was published).
