Abstract

One day, a boy comes to visit the house where a grandpa and the ten ghosts live. The ghosts are excited to play together, but the boy remains silent and doesn't even take off his hat. Wanting them to become friends, the grandfather takes them all camping. While the grandfather makes soup, the ghosts and the boy make their way through the forest... and encounter many different animals. When they enter a cave, a big bear appears... Will the boy and the ten ghosts be able to become friends?

Born in Fukuoka Prefecture in 1940. Picture book author and artist. His works include the "Big Octopus Maston" series (Gyosei), "Let's Play, Mummy" and "Knock and Knock" (PHP Institute), "Stroll with Dad" and "Tsutomu and the Magic Bus" (Kyoiku Gageki), "The Little Bear and the Two Monsters" (Doshinsha), and the "10 Ghosts" series (Hikari no Kuni). He won the Erba Award at the Bologna Children's Book Fair for "The Ghost and the Children's King" (PHP Institute), and the 29th Hirosuke Fairy Tale Award for "Tsutomu and the Cat's Day Fairy" (Komine Shoten).
