Abstract

This picture book can be enjoyed twice by flipping the book over! The front tells the story of a mother making a lunch box with lots of love. The back tells the story of a child enjoying a delicious lunch box. This is a book that lets you experience both the fun of making it and the joy of eating it.

Author’s Information

Born in Tokyo. Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School. Using animals as a motif, she continues to create picture books and present her work in Japanese painting. Her picture books include the "Delicious Forest" series, such as "Lemon-chan," "Fish Can I?" (PHP Institute), the "Witch" series, "Duck A-chan A-I-U-E-O" (Happy Owl Publishing), the "Sweet Sweets Picture Book" series, such as "Happy Butterfly," the "Cloud Country" series, and "Cake-chan," as well as "Bread Goes on a Field Trip to the Kindergarten" and "Tekka-kun" (Kyoiku Gageki), "Bento," "Animal Bakery," and "Side Dishes Go Out" (Hikari no Kuni), "Where's the Gochisou-dori?" (by Sutou Asae/Kumon Publishing), "Ding-Dong! We're Coming to the Next Stop" (by Gomi Hiromi/Kotsu Shimbunsha), and "The Vegetable Pool Opens" (by Karita Sumiko/Kodansha), among others. "The Witch's Broom" won the 4th Kindergarten Picture Book Grand Prize, and "Lunch Box" won the Papa Mama Award at the 9th MOE Picture Book Store Grand Prize 2016.
