Abstract

The book closely looks at the lives of rock ptarmigan families living in Tateyama Murodo in Toyama prefecture, Japan. The author unveils their courting behavior, child rearing, and other through beautiful and heart-warming photos newly taken for the book. Q&A pages answers questions such as where and how one can see rock ptarmigans.

Author’s Information

Gaku Totsuka mainly takes photographs of wild birds. Not only "cute" or "beautiful", his photos let people think about the relationship between birds and human being, and the environment. He is known as an author of photography books concerning birds. He is a member of the Society of Scientific Photography and Wild Bird Society of Japan.
