Author’s Information

Born in 1927. Graduated from the Faculty of Letters at the University of Tokyo. After working as an editor at Chuokoron-Shinsha, he began his writing career with the novel "Utage" (Chuko Bunko). He has served as a lecturer at Bunkyo University, Musashino Women's University (now Musashino University), and Waseda University, and a professor at Niigata University of Management, while also working as a newscaster on programs such as "Tonight" (TV Asahi) and "Geino Hanabutai" (NHK). He received the Popular Literature Research Award for "The Birth of a Kabuki Hero" and "The Birth of a Kabuki Heroine" (Ubunshoin). He passed away in 2024.
