Author’s Information

Professor Emeritus and Pro Vice-President of Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU). Founder of Lifenet Life Insurance Co. Ltd.

Born in Misugi, Mie Prefecture, in 1948. After graduating from the Faculty of Law at Kyoto University in 1972, he joined Nippon Life Insurance Company. He served as president of the London subsidiary and head of international operations before retiring in 2006. That same year, he founded Netlife Planning Co., Ltd. and became its president and representative director. The company changed its name to Lifenet Life Insurance Co. Ltd. in 2008 and went public in 2012.

He has served as president of Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) since January 2018. He will assume his current position in January 2024. His numerous publications include "Introduction to Life Insurance, New Edition" (Iwanami Shoten), "5000 Years of Human History" series (Chikuma Shinsho), "Learn Japanese History from Scratch" series (Bungeishunju), "World History (Vol. 1 and 2)" (Shincho Bunko), and "Reading World History in One Go" (Nikkei BP).
