Abstract

This book features stunning life-sized vegetable paintings by the author, who won the Gold Medal and the Grand Prize at the Royal Horticultural Society's "RHS London Botanical Art Exhibition.

" The book features 86 pieces, completed over a period of 17 years.
Heartwarming essays in both Japanese and English will change the way you look at plants.

The artist carefully depicts the fine hairs, grains of soil, and faint scars, painting them at life-size, with all his heart and soul.

The more you look, the more captivated you become by the microcosm of vegetables. The vegetables, painstakingly drawn day after day to their natural state, are brimming with vitality, almost as if they are dancing. Vegetables are nurtured by people and nature. Vegetables walk alongside us. Recognizing the beauty in the small things in our daily lives... It is these small things that give us new strength and encouragement. Here, I present to you 86 vegetables, including traditional Edo-Tokyo vegetables, that I have personally harvested over the course of 17 years. -Naomi Gunma
