Abstract

Creating an atmosphere where bullying doesn't happen: An evidence-based picture book for bullying prevention education

◆ A picture book that helps children recognize the that lead to bullying
◆ A book to prevent the creation of
◆ Also useful for bullying prevention education in elementary schools, junior high schools, and after-school programs.

Many bullies are unaware that they are "bullying"--a fact revealed by bullying research both domestically and internationally. Behind this is the that justifies their actions, such as "It was just a joke" or "That child made a mistake." In this book, these wrong ways of thinking are represented by a character called Classpi (the spirit of the class). By pausing and thinking, "I might have these kinds of thoughts too," through this character, children can become aware of their own assumptions and refrain from unconsciously causing harm. This book aims to reduce wrong ways of thinking and increase positive actions, thereby contributing to bullying prevention.
