Born in Nagasaki in 1975, he made his literary debut in 2011 after winning the 9th Kono Mystery ga Sugoi! (This Mystery is Excellent!) Award's Excellence Prize for A Certain Girl's Confession of Murder (Aru Shojo ni Matsuwaru Satsujin no Kokuhaku). In 2016, he won the 2nd Kanagawa Book Award for Shirobai Girl (Police Motorcycle Girl). His extensive bibliography includes the Behavioral Profile Investigator Ema Tateoka series, which was adapted into a TV drama, as well as the Shirobai Girl series, the Absolute Pitch Detective Sakurako Narumi series, The Dognappers (Inu wo Nusumu), and The One-Hundred-Million-Yen Dog (Ichiokuyen no Inu).
