Abstract

“Oh, it looks like the weather will be nice tomorrow. I think I’ll go somewhere.”
The frog whispered while watching the TV weather forecast. When he opened the curtains the next morning… “Great! Today is the best weather!” exclaimed the frog happily and in good spirits at seeing the pouring rain before leaving for a picnic. That’s right. For frogs, pouring rain is the best weather. Frogs have a completely reversed sense of values about weather compared with humans.
With a freshly-made, crispy pork cutlet burger in hand, the frog headed toward the park. He sat back on a deck chair amidst the pouring rain and relaxed wearing a pair of sunglasses. Both his body and his cutlet burger were soaked and soggy with rain, but he said, “Mm, it looks more and more delicious.” The stylish reversed umbrella the frog puts up when the rain stops is another highlight!
This exceptionally humorous picture book portrays in high tempo a world in which everything is reversed. The catch phrase – “everything is reversed, but can reversal be taken too far?” – won the 19th Japan Picture Book Award (2014).
