Even after systematizing work and eliminating waste, maintaining the status quo is often the best one can hope for.

Amidst cries of labor shortage, systematizing work and eliminating waste may be seen as merely a measure to run operations with fewer people than before. Or, even if you think "systematization is finished," you may not realize that there is still more to be done, or you haven't fully completed it.

What is important in systematization and waste elimination is not only reducing the input resources, which are the "denominator" of productivity, but also using the "new time" created by systematization to create value. This book explains the nine steps to implementing "Lean Operations," a method for preserving value, creating value, and surviving in an era of population decline. For each step, we will explain everything from the desired state to common pitfalls, ways of thinking to solve them, and specific practical methods.

Executive Vice President, Studist Co., Ltd. A graduate of Tokyo Institute of Technology (now Tokyo University of Science), he worked at a domestic think tank, engaging in urban planning and other research-related tasks. Subsequently, at a business improvement consulting company for the manufacturing industry, he served as project leader for design support system implementation, product development process reform, and business analysis. After serving as a manager at the same company, he co-founded Studist Co., Ltd. in March 2010. He has overseen sales, customer success, and administrative departments before assuming his current position. The company develops SaaS products, consulting, training, and outsourcing solutions to help client companies achieve "lean operations." His publications include "Systematizing Work That Delivers Results" (Nikkei BP) and "Eliminating Waste in Work That Delivers Results" (ibid.).
