Author’s Information

Born in Saitama Prefecture in 1971. He was a member of the Kyoto University Mystery Theory Club. In 2004, he made his debut with Alphabet Puzzlers. In 2013, he won the 13th Honkaku Mystery Award for The Locked Room Collector. His 2018 novel, Alibis Dismantled, ranked #1 in the domestic category of The Honkaku Mystery Best 10 (2019) and caused a major sensation when it was adapted into a TV drama series in 2020.

In 2022, he won the 75th Mystery Writers of Japan Award for Short Stories with "The Clockshop Detective and the Antinomy Alibi" (included in The Adventures of the Clockshop Detective: Alibis Breaker 2).

His other works include The Masquerade Illusion, The Red Museum, Watson Power, Kidnapping in Memory: The Red Museum, and The Accidental Sleuth: Watson Power. He has also translated Edmund Crispin’s Love Lies Bleeding and Nicholas Blake’s The Beast Must Die (Japanese title: The Shell of Death).
