Abstract
A psychiatrist unravels the difficulties of life that cannot be simply dismissed as "toxic parenting."
Why do you feel exhausted after meeting your parents?
You've never been hit by your parents. They've shown you love. Yet, you feel a sense of unease, a feeling that "something is wrong" or "life is somehow difficult." If you feel this way, it may be the influence of the "toxic parenting gray zone."
Many people cannot clearly articulate the cause of their suffering. They also feel hesitant to definitively state that there was a problem in their parent-child relationship. That's why this book does not aim to blame or judge parents.
What's important is to understand how your parent-child relationship has affected your mind, how that influence is connected to your current worries and difficulties in life, to become aware of the limiting beliefs and mechanisms of your suffering that are holding you back, and to reclaim a life that is true to yourself.
You don't need to change your actual parent-child relationship. In this book, from the perspective of a psychiatrist, we will carefully unravel the connection between parent-child relationships and the mind, and provide concrete hints for reclaiming yourself.
◎This book is for people like you:
- You feel extremely exhausted after meeting your parents, but you don't know why.
- You're always worried about what your parents would say about your job or marriage.
- You constantly push yourself to "do things right."
- You have trouble expressing your opinions and desires.
- You believe that empathy is paramount in relationships.
- You always have trouble getting along with people in positions of authority who evaluate you, such as your boss or senior colleagues.
