Abstract

The manga artist "I," who travels domestically and abroad multiple times a year, finally fulfills a long-held wish: taking her travel-unaccustomed mother on a trip to the Kanto region.

It was supposed to be a cozy getaway for just the two of them—or so she thought, until her mother shows up at Tokyo Station wearing broken sandals...!?

Right from the start, the journey devolves into a hectic, hilarious misadventure as they scramble to find a new pair of shoes.

---

What might be just an ordinary trip around Kanto to the narrator is a precious, once-in-a-lifetime experience for her mother.

There is a reason why her mother is so unaccustomed to travel.

For decades, she was forbidden from staying overnight away from home by her husband, bound to the household like a bird trapped in a cage.

By sharing this journey, learning about each other's pasts, and revealing their true feelings, the two take their first steps toward a new future.

A tender and nostalgic travel comic essay woven by a clumsy mother and daughter.
