Abstract

On a new continent governed by more than a thousand nations, the mystery of immortality has become an everyday reality. Shion, a girl who herself is immortal, wanders from country to country in search of a reason to live.
In one nation, ghosts and humans coexist within a vast hotel; in another, a desert kingdom, skeletal soldiers stand guard over a king who has slept for a thousand years. Strange incidents and paradoxical logic arise in a world where immortality truly exists. What answer will the girl reach at the end of her long journey?
The winner of the 36th Ayukawa Tetsuya Award, this novel constructs an unparalleled world and a spellbinding tapestry of mysteries.
