Abstract

[Things that change and things that are important that remain unchanged—a beautiful picture book depicting the unwavering warmth that breathes within the casual moments between a father and son.] "Cott, let's go for a drive." "A drive? Where is that?" "A drive is when we go out in the car. Now, let's get ready." It was Cott's first drive with his beloved dad. A sudden shower started falling as they set off, but it stopped almost immediately. "Now, we're going into the tunnel." "Dad, the tunnel is dark and scary." Then Dad said, "It's okay. Look at Dad's face reflected in the mirror," and made a funny face. Not to be outdone, Cott made a funny face too. "Ha ha ha ha ha," "Ha ha ha ha ha," "See, the scary thing is gone now." Waiting for Cott and his friends after they emerged from the tunnel was a large lake, swans, and cherry trees. The swans were about to embark on a long journey north, and the cherry trees changed with each of the four seasons, Dad carefully explained to Cott about everything he saw. "It's time for the sun to go back home now. Shall we go home too, Cott?" As the sun set, night fell, and a new day began. Watching the ever-changing world, Cott suddenly wondered, Is there anything that never changes? What was the special word Dad had given him...?
