Professor at Ritsumeikan University's College of Sports and Health Sciences. Born in 1970. Graduated from the Department of Sports Medicine and Management at Pfeiffer University in North Carolina in 1993. Completed doctoral studies at the University of Southern California Graduate School in 2002. PhD (exercise physiology). Became a lecturer in internal medicine at the University of Texas Medical School in 2006, and a specially appointed assistant professor at the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Frontier Sciences in 2007, before joining Ritsumeikan University in 2009. Specializes in exercise physiology.
