Abstract

Kakeru Nishizawa, an owner of import agency, is such a city boy who raised in Tokyo. He has lots of experience in romance and no desire to marry. However, he began to think about marriage in his late 30s. He met Mami Sakaniwa on a marriage hunting app, who is serious, polite to everyone, and looks very goodness. He started going out with her. Although he put off getting married more than 2 years, he finally decides to get married to her by the trigger of her trouble of being stalked. After they reserved a place for wedding, Mami disappeares suddenly. Kakeru visits her hometown where she lived to the age of 30, and listens to the stories about her from her family, friends and matchmaking partners in order to find out the reason of her disappearance. He gradually discovers her past life…. Readers can enjoy a mystery why Mami disappears. In addition, this novel deeply describes inside the mind when we choose something or somebody, and makes us realize unconscious haughtiness that everybody has. It is the novel that confronts our emotional pain of life as well as love.

Author’s Information

Mizuki Tsujimura was born in 1980, and debuted in 2004 with 'Tsumetai Kosha no Toki wa Tomaru', which won the 31st Mephisto Award. She won the 32nd Yoshikawa Eiji Literary Prize for New Writers for 'Tsunagu', and the 147th Naoki Prize for 'Kagi no Nai Yume o Miru' in 2012, and the 15th Japan Bookseller’s Award for 'Kagami no Kojo (Lonely Castle in the Mirror)' in 2018. She is the prolific author of many novels, 'Zero Eight Zero Seven', 'Shima wa Bokura to', 'Asa ga Kuru', 'Aozora to Nigeru', 'Kamiawanai Kaiwa to Aru Kako ni Tsuite', 'Kohaku no Natsu', 'Yami Hara'.
